I bought a green screen with the intention of learning how to edit videos even though i have 0 experience and no computer. Dancing in this cosplay is so fun because the bob reminds me of willy wonka. Anyways im thinking about how my quitting mentality has caused me to give up on anything I’m not immediately good at. If I’m good at something naturally I feel that I can grow to be amazing at it if I keep practicing. If I suck at something naturally I can work as hard as possible for years at it, and I worry I will never be as good as the average person at it. Obviously this mentality doesn’t apply for all things, but it does apply for a lot of things in life. So it is important to know where your skills lie. I spent years trying all types of sports, and I knew I was bad at most sports. I have poor coordination. I knew if I kept trying I could be average, but I would never be a professional athlete. I actually dont care, because it was never my passion. I have always been passionate about art, but to this day I don’t consider myself talented at sketching or painting. I realized I could create art without ever having to paint again. For me that is cosplay. Over the years I have been told I have a natural talent for styling wigs, makeup, and sewing clothing. My love for anime really put everything into perspective for me one day. The first time I saw someone cosplay online I really thought to myself “that looks so easy” and “I could do that”. It was not that easy. I feel that I’ve had to face so many obstacles in my personal life that have gotten in the way of my dream. Sometimes it’s been myself. I’ve also faced the reality that many people that succeed by taking “short cuts”. They sacrifice their morality in the process and this can often lead to an unfulfilled life. I hope that I’m not alone. I hope that other people have also gone through this phase of not reaching their full potential. I also hope that soon I can sew beautiful cosplays to wear at conventions all over the world. I hope that I can inspire people, and that they will be impressed by me. One day I will be the best at the one thing I’m extremely passionate about. But today I genuinely think I suck lol.
