‘Scientists check the absorbency of period products with blood for the first time’ No, that is not a study from the 70s, 80s or even the 90s this is from a study released this month. Up until this study, scientists were checking absorbency of period products with saline solution…SALINE. We have said it before and we are going to say it again: why did this take so long?!?

How much blood do you lose on your period? 🩸 Everyone’s cycle is unique, so knowing your baseline can help you notice any changes. Healthcare professionals used to define heavy menstrual bleeding as losing more than 80ml of blood in one period. However, this doesn’t account for personal experiences like leaks or disruptions to daily life. If you’re feeling dizzy, faint, fatigued, or unable to go about your day due to heavy bleeding, reach out to your provider

What tampon size should I use? When it comes to tampons, size = absorbency. When you start using tampons, it is recommended to go with the lowest absorbency and work your way up as you get more comfortable. How do you know you have the right absorbency for your flow? As a general rule, if you’re bleeding through a tampon in less than 4 hours, you likely need a higher absorbency. Similarly, if you’re changing a tampon after 4-6 hours and it’s not mostly saturated, you likely need to change down to a lower absorbency tampon. Mini/light 🩸🩸: for a light flow day. Normal/regular 🩸🩸🩸: for medium flow days. Super 🩸🩸🩸🩸: for heavy flow days. Super Plus/ultra 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸: for the heaviest flow. Please note that tampon sizes/absorbency names, and fluid retention estimates may vary by brand. Be sure to read the packaging.

Having an STI screening test can bring out anxiety in the best of us. Which is why I was excited to try Daye's tampon-based at-home screening test. The STI test comes straight to your door and then the results are emailed to you within 5 days. One question we had for @Daye when we received the kit was 🧐: Wait, so you really just use a tampon??? 🎤Yes, tampons are a non-invasive, familiar way (for many of us) to obtain a test sample that makes the screening experience at home more comfortable and accessible. One thing to note is that you can’t be on your period when taking the test. Follow the link in our stories to learn more and try the kit at home. Currently only available in the UK. NOTE: Like every other diagnostic test, lab results are not sufficient for a diagnosis. Daye offers the option to connect with independent CQC-regulated healthcare providers virtually and in-person for a confirmed diagnosis.

Last month, Florida Republican, Stan McClain introduced a bill that, if passed, would ban talking and learning about menstrual cycles in elementary school. On average menstruation starts between the ages of 10-15 but some people can start their period from as young as 8 years old. Restrictions on reproductive and sexual health education should not be a conversation we’re having in 2023. No one should be allowed to limit understanding YOUR own body. #justsayperiod Help Clue to break down taboos at our link in bio 👉

If you’re trying to conceive, it’s not worth trying on just any day of your cycle. Studies show that the six days with the highest chance to succeed are the five days leading up to ovulation plus the day of ovulation. However, if you want to avoid getting pregnant, be mindful that ovulation doesn’t always happen on the same day each cycle. Chances of pregnancy, however low, are never 0% and depend on many factors, so choose and use a contraceptive method that is right for you.

V*ginal discharge is nothing to be ashamed of. But is there such a thing as too much of it? It’s different for every person so knowing your baseline throughout your cycle is important and can help you notice any changes. If you have discharge that is an unusual colour, strong smell, and if it’s accompanied by any pain, itching, or discomfort, it’s a good idea to read out to your healthcare provider.

Some people are not sure what boundaries are and we wanted to take a moment to look at what they actually mean for you and the people in your life. The bottom line? Boundaries are about YOU and the limits of what you are comfortable with, they are not about placing restrictions on others. In the context of a relationship, boundaries can be healthy when they are mutually agreed on, but not when imposed by one partner on another.

We’ve been reading your comments on our video about how much blood is typically lost during the average period and noticed that some of you mention losing much more than the typical 5-80ml. Here’s everything to know about getting an STI test in Berlin 👉 German public health insurance covers STI tests if you have symptoms or a reason to suspect infection (e.g., a partner informs you of an STI). With private insurance, coverage depends on your plan, but you typically pay upfront and get reimbursed. Here are some places you can get tested: Praxis Prenzlauer Berg Open to everyone, focusing on HIV, AIDS, and STIs. Cost: Covered if there are symptoms or suspicion. On-site tests only covered by private insurance. Berliner Aids-Hilfe eV Open to anyone, offers free consultations. Cost: HIV rapid test: 15€. General STI test: 25€. Avi Medical Open to anyone, accepts private and public insurance. Cost: Covered if there are symptoms or suspicion. Full STI testing: 200-300€. Checkpoint BLN Open to gay and bisexual men, their partners, and trans and intersex people, regardless of sexual orientation. Cost: 5-25€ depending on tests. Free HIV/STI tests for those with low income. Sam Health DE At-home testing available for everyone. Cost: First general STI test: 75€ (subsequent tests: 59€); subsidized testing kits for 10€ for those in need (contact advisors for eligibility).

PSA: You CAN get pregnant on your period. (This might be breaking news for @ilana glazer character in BABES movie) We asked our Science Team to elaborate. Conception can occur if you have unprotected sex during your period, but it depends on a few factors. Your period length is a factor. People with predictable, “typical-length” (24-28 day) cycles are less likely to have their fertile window (the days when pregnancy is most likely to occur) when menstruating, whereas people with short or unpredictable cycles are more likely to have their fertile window during menstruation Age is also a factor. As you get older, you may ovulate earlier in your cycle, meaning your fertile window can overlap with your period. If you have unprotected sex during your period when it overlaps with your potential ovulation days, then pregnancy can occur. If you want to avoid pregnancy (and are not on any type of long term birth control) remember to use condoms when having s*x EVEN on your period 🙏🩸 We partnered with the team behind BABES for this post. See BABES in select cities today, everywhere May 24 @NEON #babesmovie

RAGE TRIGGER ALERT 🧨 Arizona’s highest court yesterday voted to reimpose a law passed in 1864 banning nearly all abortions, a decision that will hugely impact essential healthcare for women and people with cycles. Arizona’s Supreme Court ruled that because Roe v.
